The Dog Patch
The Dog Patch Rescue is a nonprofit organization dedicated to giving dogs in need a true second chance. Our mission is simple yet life-changing: to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs into loving, permanent families.
Every dog in our care is housed at Legendary Canines, where they benefit from the expertise of our lead trainer, Kennedy Robertson. Each dog completes our basic obedience training program, learning essential skills and manners that set them up for success in their next chapter.
We believe in thoughtful, intentional placements. Once a dog has completed training and is ready for adoption, we carefully hand-select the right home—matching the dog’s personality, needs, and energy level with the perfect family.
Our goal is to create a win-win: a dog prepared to thrive in a home environment, and a family equipped to enjoy years of companionship, trust, and joy. Through training, care, and the right match, The Dog Patch Rescue changes lives—one dog, one family, one happy ending at a time.

From our Customers
“Beautiful facility, only place in the upstate we are comfortable leaving our dogs.”
“We had the best experience with Legendary Canines! Our dog, Huck, absolutely loved his stay. The property has a peaceful, farm-like feel, secluded, quiet, and with tons of space for dogs to run around and just be free. It’s exactly the kind of place dogs love.”
“I can’t say enough good things about Kennedy and her boarding! It’s so clean, organized, and cozy! You can tell she puts her heart into every little detail. She treats every dog like her own and truly goes above and beyond. It’s the only place I feel completely at ease leaving Lola there.”
“Kennedy’s professionalism, trustworthiness, and genuine care has earned my utmost respect and gratitude. Her new facility is top-notch, and her dedication to every dog’s well being is unmatched.”

Our Story
The story of Legendary Canines begins with Kennedy Robertson, a lifelong dog trainer whose passion and expertise shaped every part of what the facility is today. Kennedy began working with dogs at just 16 years old and went on to develop a wide range of skills, from advanced obedience to working dogs on the renowned King Ranch. Her commitment to continued learning through mentorships and specialized courses set her apart as a trainer with unmatched depth and dedication.
In 2023, Kennedy’s vision for a place that offered more than just boarding — a place where dogs could be dogs and truly thrive — found its match in the Halbert family. Having experienced the challenges of finding boarding and training options that felt safe, personal, and professional, Lancen and Eryn Halbert shared Kennedy’s dream of something better: a facility built on trust, transparency, and a deep respect for every dog.
Together, they brought Legendary Canines to life. Situated on 40 acres of farmland, with staff on-site 24/7 and a team dedicated to excellence, Legendary Canines is more than just a state-of-the-art boarding and training facility. It is a place that feels like home, where dogs can thrive and where owners find peace of mind. When you visit, you’ll likely meet Boone and Lemon, the Halberts’ own dogs, who spend their days enjoying the same home-like care as every guest.
At Legendary Canines, Kennedy’s expertise guides everything we do — offering professional training, all-inclusive care, and a safe, welcoming environment that feels like a home away from home.
Meet Eryn
Eryn is a wife, a mom to two boys and a lifelong lover of animals and the outdoors. She shares her home with two dogs: Boone, a gentle, giant Newfoundland, and Lemon, a spirited rescue.
At Legendary Canines, Eryn works behind the scenes handling creative direction and customer experience. She’s often in and out of the kennel — connecting with clients, checking in on the dogs, and making sure everyone has plenty of treats.
With a heart for rescue and a passion for making a difference in the dog community. Eryn founded The Dog Patch Rescue, a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing, training, and rehoming dogs in need.
Through a special partnership with Legendary Canine’s lead trainer, Kennedy Robertson, every Dog Patch pup receives foundational training through a basic obedience board-and-train program. This ensures each dog is not only ready for adoption but set up for long-term success in their forever home.
Meet Kennedy
Kennedy is the lead trainer and the face of Legendary Canines. As a wife and mom to two girls and the proud owner of four dogs — Harvey, Bonnie, Legend, and Rue — she deeply understands the powerful bond between dogs and their families.
She is the friendly voice you’ll hear and the smiling face your dog will love most during their stay- the one tossing the ball, leading the training, and making every dog (and owner) feel at ease the moment they arrive.
Kennedy began working with dogs at just 16 years old. She has since developed expertise in high-level obedience training and also has a wide range of experience in other areas including, personal protection, search and rescue, scent work and upland bird dog training. Her hands-on experience is matched by her dedication to continued learning, with advanced education through mentorships, specialized courses, and real-world experience.
At Legendary Canines, Kennedy brings a thoughtful, balanced approach to training that blends professionalism, compassion, and real results. Her mission is simple: to help dogs thrive and strengthen the connection between dogs and their owners.
